Writing Exercise

Before writing your own compare and contrast paragraphs, please do the exercise on sentence sequencing below, to be aware of the organization of compare and conrast paragraphs.

Exercise:



As all you know,  you have already prepared your own venn diagrams/tables and outlines on Turkish and American family structures.

Now, I want you to write compare and conrast paragraphs (only Body paragraphs 1 & 2) by considering your outlines.

Then, post your paragraphs to the blog.

When writing your paragraphs, remember that

• one paragraph will focus on similarities whereas the other one focuses on differences
• each paragraph will have a clear topic sentence.
• you will support your topic sentence by giving examples or providing evidence, etc.
• you will use comparison and contrast connectors to make your paragraphs coherent.
• re-read your sentences to check grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes.
• post it to the blog.
